Terms of Service
Last updated October 15, 2026
These terms apply to your use of SPICEography (spiceography.com, the “Site”), owned and operated by Matt Bray (“we”, “us”). By using the Site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
Please read section 8 carefully. It requires most disputes to be resolved by individual binding arbitration, and it waives the right to a jury trial and to take part in a class action.
1. Information only
The Site is a reference on herbs, spices and seasonings. Everything on it is general information, not medical, nutritional, dietary, legal or other professional advice. Read the Nutrition Disclaimer, which is part of these terms, before relying on anything health-related on the Site.
2. Using the Site
You may read, print and share links to the Site for personal, non-commercial use. You agree not to:
- copy or republish substantial parts of the Site, or its data tables, without permission (short quotations with a link back are welcome);
- scrape, crawl or harvest the Site in a way that burdens it, or use its content to build a competing database or service;
- interfere with the Site, its security or its advertising, or try to gain unauthorized access to it;
- use the Site for any unlawful purpose.
3. Ownership
The text, data compilations, images, design and code of the Site are owned by us or our licensors and protected by copyright and other laws. Facts and figures quoted from sources belong to those sources and are credited on each page. Product names and trademarks mentioned on the Site belong to their owners and are used only to identify products.
4. Consent to data collection
These terms incorporate our Privacy Policy, which describes how data is collected and used on the Site. By using this Site, you consent to the collection and use of data as described in the Privacy Policy. You may opt out of the use of your data for cross-contextual advertising by following the instructions in the Privacy Policy or using the opt-out options shown on the Site.
5. Other websites
The Site links to sources and other websites we do not control. We are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability or privacy practices, and a link is not an endorsement.
6. No warranties
The Site and everything on it are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, timeliness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We work to keep the Site accurate and show the sources for what it states, but sources can be wrong or change, and we do not warrant that any information is correct, complete or current, or that the Site will be uninterrupted or free of errors or harmful components.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we and our vendors and service providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from or related to the Site or these terms, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the total liability of us and our vendors and service providers for all claims arising from or related to the Site or these terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us, if any, in the six months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100). These limits apply under any legal theory, including contract, tort, negligence and strict liability, and even if a remedy fails of its essential purpose. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limits, so some of these may not apply to you.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless us and our vendors and service providers from claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Site or your breach of these terms.
8. Binding arbitration and class action waiver
Applicability. You and we agree that any dispute or claim between you and us, or our vendors or service providers, arising from or relating to the Site or these terms will be resolved by binding individual arbitration, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small claims court, and either party may seek equitable relief in court to protect intellectual property rights. Any claim must be brought within one year after it arises, or it is permanently barred.
Notice and negotiation. Before starting arbitration, the party with the claim must send the other a written notice describing the claim and the relief sought. Notices to us go to contact@spiceography.com with the subject line “Notice of dispute”. Both parties will try in good faith to resolve the claim for 30 days after the notice is received before starting arbitration.
Process. Arbitration will be administered by JAMS under its rules then in effect for consumer disputes, before a single arbitrator. Hearings may take place by video, by written submissions or in person in the county where you live, as the arbitrator decides.
Fees. If the arbitrator finds you cannot afford the arbitration fees, we will pay them. If the arbitrator finds a claim frivolous or brought for an improper purpose, fees will be allocated as the applicable rules allow.
Arbitrator’s authority. The arbitrator, and not any court or agency, has exclusive authority to resolve any dispute about the interpretation, applicability, enforceability or formation of this arbitration agreement.
Jury trial waiver. You and we waive any right to a trial in court before a judge or jury.
Class action waiver. Claims may be brought only individually, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective or representative proceeding, and the arbitrator may not consolidate claims of more than one person, except as described under batch arbitration.
Batch arbitration. If 50 or more similar arbitration demands against us are filed by or with the help of the same law firm or organization within a 30-day period, they may be administered in batches, with one arbitrator per batch.
Severability and survival. If any part of this section is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect, except that if the class action waiver is found unenforceable for a claim, that claim must proceed in court. This section survives the end of your use of the Site. If we make a material change to this section, it will not apply to a claim for which notice was already given.
9. Changes and general terms
We may change the Site or these terms at any time. The date at the top shows when the terms last changed, and continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the new terms. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These terms, the Privacy Policy and the Nutrition Disclaimer are the entire agreement between you and us about the Site.
